I don’t typically listen to country music other than a select few artists that I have stowed away in my music library. Unless you count my daughters obsession with Taylor Swift that requires me playing the same Taylor Swift song over and over. Of course I’m also obsessed with Taylor Swift, although I highly doubt it is for the same reason that my daughter is.
Of course, my daughter, is obsessed with Taylor Swift because her name is also ‘Taylor’ and her last name also starts with an ‘S’ and she ‘looks just like her’ and when she sings she ’sounds just like her’. Just an amusing tidbit I thought I’d share.
Also I occassionally look and see what Darius Rucker is up to. I’m still in shock that he swung to country. Although I must say, he does a damn good job as a country singer. Plus if you ever really listened to his lyrics from his Hootie and the Blowfish days I guess it’s not that much of a shock. Damn…”Blowfish”…that brings back memories involving a birthday party, strippers, two sisters and a LOT of jello shots. It all ultimately turned into vomit the next morning but was totally worth it.
When I was headed to Little Rock yesterday through this wonderful snow storm (aka “Lizard” if you ask Dylan), I was in my Mom’s jeep. Which isn’t nearly as cool as my car considering it doesn’t play MP3 cd’s. Unfortunately I wasn’t thinking when I left and I didn’t grab any extra cd’s to take along for the ride. So after 2 hours of not being able to see the road because of the snow I gave in, turned off the one cd I had and when to the radio. Now here’s the thing about Arkansas. There is a reason I only ever listen to cd’s that I’ve made and that reason is, the radio here in Arkansas sucks balls. And not in a good way either. I must say, it has improved since I lived here last, but still sucks. Then there is the other reason my Mom’s jeep isn’t as cool as my car…no steering wheel radio controls. How lame is that? So I found myself constantly reaching for the radio and hitting the ’seek’ button as radio stations came in and faded away. For lack of a better option I did listen to some country, although I was selective on who I stopped and listened to.
ANYWHO…
How about a little George Straight – Run covered by Taylor Swift? That’s gotta be cool right?
